Revised Memoirs

Regular viewers to the site may have noticed that just prior to Christmas I removed 'My Memoirs' which I know was very popular, this was due in part to possible incidents of Identity fraud, however I have now edited the full manuscript and it is back with many more chapters.

Small Update

Hello, just a small update today. I have removed the Online Shop as it seems to have served its purpose, it may appear periodically though.

One of the members on our forum has been keeping an eye on the Developments at Stanley Park and has kindly taken some pictures which can be seen in the Members Galleries. Dont forget if you want leave a message on the Blog just click on the link below.

January Update

Now that Christmas is long gone I have spent a few hours tweaking the site. Today I have added a few pictures to Gallery Five showing Walton Hall Park. I have also added a couple of songs to the Juke Box, and changed the format Slightly. Hope you had a good Christmas and all the best for the New Year.

Identity Fraud

Identity Fraud sadly is now a fact of life, and in my naivety it was something I never considered when I posted the first Chapter of my Memoirs, so in hindsight I have removed the Chapter, and will make some amendments to it ie (make it anonymous) and repost possibly in the new year.

New Version of Chapter One Autobiography Added

Thanks for the positive feedback many people have left with regard to my Autobiography. Today I have added the new version of Chapter One, obviously the details are the same, but I have attempted to add more 'colour ' to the descriptive elements. I hope you enjoy.

Site Makeover

Family Tree

Hiya,

I have been kept busty lately researching my family tree and what a complicated process it is turning out to be. I am finding relatives I never knew I had. I must thank both YO LIVERPOOL forum and particularly Chippie who has been very helpful sharing his knowledge and time to help me on my quest, and also visitors to the MERSEYSIDE GENEAOLGY forum who have also been so helpful.

Back to Work

After having last week off work, its been full on for me this week, hence I have had barely any time to visit the site or the forum, but both continue to be pretty active. I think I will save any updates and then possibly prior to Christmas if time permits I will have a major overhaul of the site. Please keep checking back periodically for updates.

Liverpool Today

I have noticed recently that the page is getting visited by quite a few Ex-Pats so I have added a new Gallery titled LIVERPOOL TODAY, particularly for the Ex-Pats, I know a lot of these pictures can be sourced everywhere on the net, but thought I would try to collate alot of familiar pictures here at MY LIVERPOOL, dont forget if you have any pictures you would like to share or request why not leave a posting on MY LIVERPOOL forum which is active each day and its membership is growing by the week. On the subject of pictures I would like to thank (Sheila) surname unknown for her great collection of personal photographs of Compton Street. Thanks Sheila for sharing.

Latest Updates

Hello,

Work Commitments have prevented me from spending as much time working on the site as I would have liked, however I do check the site on a daily basis and particularly the Guest Book, so thanks to those who have recently signed the guestbook and left comments, I really appreciate the comments. Somebody called Arthur recently signed and asked for some pictures of Frosts on Walton Road, which I have managed to Source courtesy of Anthony Hogan and Liverpool Suburbia (pics in Gallery Four and Five), I have updated both Galleries Four and added Gallery Five.

I am still in the process of writing my Autobiography (Chapter One) is available on the site. Many Many thanks to everyone who has taken the time to read it, and left feedback which has really been very encouraging, the version online is an early version and I must say the current version has changed quite a bit, with more detail added and memories added.

The Forum continues to grow, and is still very active, if you havent already signed up please take the time to join and add your thoughts and views via the forum.

Updated Site

Hello Again,

Over the past couple of days I have made some very subtle, but quite big changes to the site. I have added a gallery titled "Gallery Four" within the galleries section, which contain 16 new pictures courtesy of Forum Member 'Andalucia' (who is also an Administrator on the Merseyside Genealogy Site) so many thanks to Andalucia for allowing to post these pictures for the benefit of everyone.
I have also updated the Music Section which is now located within the Music Link (obviously) but within their are two subfolders one titled Juke Box and the new page titled Music Memories, which is basically a whole host of songs which were around during my formative years. If you have any songs you would like to see there leave a message on the blog (bottom right) or in the guest book, and finally I have listed a whole load of books for sale which are presently cluttering my bedroom, and I am hoping to increase my holiday fund and get the missus of my back, by getting rid of them. They are all in very good nick, and only read the once by myself, so if there are any there, you want just click on the links and follow the instructions, if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

Forum Avatar Competition

Regular visitors to the MY LIVERPOOL forum may have noticed that after spotting the hilarious avatar of one of the forum members, we decided to hold a Competition to identify the funniest avatar online, postings have flood in, and we are now to hold a vote.

Forum Growing

Hello,

I have notived recently that the forum is continuing to grow, presently we have 38 members, which I know comparatively speaking is tiny, but it is a healthy start for a non commercial hobby website, I am well pleased.
Hopefully as it continues to grow, we will see more and more postings, instigating plenty of chat and intersting articles. I have noticed that some forums can be very clique, or quite select in what they allow etc, and that is fine if thats what their site moderators want, but I am trying to create a forum that basically allows people to share their views, opinions, memories etc, whatever way they want. You may notice that the majority of postings on the forum are from myself, that is not because I always want the last word, I am just trying to respond to everyone :) who takes the time to post.

Please post a topic or request a forum heading and I will do my utmost to oblige.

To date on the forum we have quite a few interesting photos, some great songs from the sixties and seventies, and quite a bit of chat. So do yourself a favour have a little look. :)

Lazy Sunday

Hello,

Today I am having a lazy Sunday, whilst listening to the Everton v Newcastle match on the radio (presently getting beat 1-0) . YES Everton have just equalised 1-1 GERRIN.....

I have posted a few messages on other local forums requesting certain information I am trying to source (read My Liverpool Forum) and am spending the rest of the day completing more chapters on my autobiography.

I quite like the look of the webpage now, so for now I will keep it.

Update

What a busy week that has been. Thank god for weekends. I am sat here today just tinkering with the site and have updated the look , Im not sure whether the finished look is what I really want, or is it too busy? dont be suprised if it is different tomorrow.

Really chuffed with the feedback I have received via the guestbook and the forum, the forum is growing on a daily basis and now has 31 members which, for a relatively new site is a great start, and when you consider , I had no knowledge of web authoring and forums etc a few backs Im chuffed. Hopefully things will continue to grow particularly the forum which is the heartbeat of the site, and is only as good as the post that people place, so c'mon help me keep things going by posting your pics etc.

Working

Just a quick blog today, not around much for the next few days due to work commitments and Evertons match tonight in Europe. Just want to say thanks to everyone who has read the autobiography and took the time to comment, it has given me the motivation to carry on with it, which I will be doing when time permits.

Eventful Past Week

After nearly a week or so the Blog Page is back up and running thanks to the 'Teccies' over at Mr Site.
It has been quite an eventful week, as the site just seems to grow and grow, we now have 30 members registered with the Forum, which is a great start, but any forum on the web is only as successful as the members who post on it, so if you are not a member, join up and start a post, I can guarantee that you will get a response.

This weekend I decided after much delibiration to post the First Chapter of my Autobiography on the Website, as I am sure you can understand such an undertaking is a personal and somewhat private affair but I thought "what the hell" and decided to post it here, to seek out peoples critiques and comments, I can honestly say I was not fishing for compliments (but when they arrive they are nice :) ), but I have been astounded by the response I have received, which has been phenomenal, it has certainly given me the drive to continue. I suspect such a project is always ongoing but I am endeavouring to push on, and have it published, initially it was only going to be for close family members, but such is the feedback I have received that when it is complete I will make it available to all.

So let me take this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken the time, to read it and post me a comment. I really do appreciate it.

Due to the growth of the Forum, I am expanding the galleries on the site to cover all areas of Liverpool and have recently created a Members Gallery, where I will be publishing pictures belonging to Members or pictures which are relevant to them. If you have any pictures you would like to share please post them on theforums or conversly if you have any pictures you would like to see, why not put a posting on the forum.

I have noticed this weekend that the links on the Daily Blog are not working correctly, I have contacted the Web Hosts with a view to resolving this issue, hopefully it will be resolved early next week.

Addictive

Hello There,

This internet business can be addictive cant it? I keep finding myself checking the site and forum like an excited 12 year old to see if anyone has left a posting, how sad is that for a forty something fella!

However it is heartening to see the community grow, and hopefully with that so will the site and forum please dont hesitate to contact me if you have anything we can share on the site, it could be your memories, any pictures you have, song requests, literaly anything, the theme of the site is Liverpool and growing up in the sixties seventies and I suppose to a lesse extent the eighties.

Last night I spent ages trying to add a shoutbox (Live Chat) to the site but I was not very pleased with the end results so I scrapped it, if anyone has the technical knowledge out there, please mail me or post on the forums your solutions / ideas.

Not around much last night as I went to watch Everton V Metalist, Wish I hadnt, a very poor game, ironic isnt it, ive been around for about two weeks now and as soon as I go out a few people joined the forum, so I wasnt around to welcome them, but at last my little community is growing :)

More Updates

I have got a life honest......... its just I have the internet bug at the moment and dabbling with my website, inspired by the positive comments I have received, so many thanks to you.

Tonight I have updated the Juke Box, and put one or two really sad (sad in the crap variety I mean) songs on there, but they are songs which evoke memories for me, hopefully they will for you too.

I have also updated the TV adverts page, with a couple more classics.

A while ago someone asked via the Guest Book to consider a Football Page, so although I have not created a footy page there is a Football section on the New Forum, so please join my forum and start a discussion.

However if you are not interested in Football, join the forum and start a new thread, I would love to see the forum take off.

Photos Removed

Some regular visitors may have noticed that several pictures have been removed from Gallery One. This is in response to somebody who goes by the name of PhilipG on Yo Liverpool forums. When I started this project I thought I would attempt to source some pictures that were relavant to my childhood whilst adding my own, I eventually found some pictures and built the website, whilst introducing the site and myself on You Liverpool forums, somebody posted that I had used there pictures without permission, hence the story unfolds:

Firstly can I take this opportunity to apologise to the site moderators and anybody else I may have inadvertently offend. I am a relative newbie, and jumped into these forums with my size nines, and was like an excited child trying to get others to view my handywork. So apologies. I am a 40 something Scouser who is attempting to keep out of mischief and have recently undertaken my first such project, namely a Liverpool Website, initially focusing upon areas where I grew up and other interests, I am hoping the site will evolve with comments from others who visit and leave feedback.

Oh God..... Y'Know I thought I would start this little internet project ie my website, to keep me outof mischief, but it seems mischief follows me, or I follow mischief. All I can do is apologise, my intention initially was to source pictures that were relevant to my growing up and create a website, I have been out an took a load of pictures to compliment the sourced pictures, Philip if you let me know what pictures are yours I will remove them with immediate effect. The difficulty I am having is lots of these pictures are all over the net , with no originating source detailed, so I wrongly assumed they were for public domain use, maybe if people do not wish for them to be used they should watermark the picture or put something on the picture to indicate this. Once again Philip I genuinely do apologise.... my thinking was to create a little corner of the web for me to reminise and for others to do the same.

I Sent an e-mail to 'Philip' to apologise and a copy of the above posting, he failed to respond, later in another thread I was asking for advice, well read for yourself:

I am certainly not looking to become a bestseller or anything like that, however as a legacy for my two children, I would love to have the book published and bound with a proper ISBN number. Internet searches have led to an american site called LULU which initially looks promising, however is anyone aware of local publishers or such like, how do I get an ISBN for my memoirs, what do I need to be wary of, is there anyone reading this who has undertaken such a project in the past. I would really welcome your comments and advice.

This response had no bearing on the original posting but was obviously a snidey little comment at a disgruntled person, who was unwilling to give me the right of reply. I replied on the forums with the following

In response to Phils earlier posting, re me using his pics without permission or acknowledgement. I offered a sincere apology through this forum, I posted him privately asking him to inform me what pictures they are and I will remove them immediately, I e-mailed him offering my apologies....... all to no response, I then found Phil having little snidey digs on another of my postings elsewhere on the forum, c'mon Phil play the game..... anyway I have through a process of elimination searched all of your pics on flickr, and established that i had used 4 of your pics, and have removed them from my site immediately, once again I do apologise, but please give me the right of reply direct, without having little sly digs, we can all make mistakes. (incidentally did you seek permission off all of the subjects in your photos, before taking their picture?) BTW some cracking pictures there though......

Eventually I got a response:

Don't turn all this on me, Peter. The fact remains that you are using photos that are not yours. Are any of them yours? People usually ask me in advance can they use my photos and I always say "yes".However, because of your attitude, there's no way I'd say "yes" to you. Thank you for removing four of my photos.The "Burton's Chambers" and "Everton Supporters' Club" are also mine. Luckily both buildings are still standing, so you can take your own photos.It's a pity it's ended like this, because I have a photo of "Ossie Wade's" which I haven't got round to putting on my flickr page or yoliverpool.

Does that sound like the ramblings of a sad individual, the last line in particular, "because I have a photo of "Ossie Wade's" just finish it off with a childish so there and pull tongues......LOL
I finished my reply with the following.

I am not turning anything on you, it is you that is acting like a spoilt little kid..... For gods sake I used 6 of your pictures to share with others, this was done in all innocence, no malice, no intent, just a genuine error hardly crime of the century....and like I said as soon as I was made aware, I apologised mailed you privately and publicly asking which pictures they were and I would remove them, you did not have the decency to reply, but posted snidey little comments elsewhere on the forums. You talk about attitude.... look at yourself fella...in response to your question are any of them yours....yes the majority are, if you had taken the time to read my apologies, it did state, i was using a few pictures to compliment my own. Oh and if anybody else is reading this, please feel free to use any of my pictures, I have no objection. Anyway I have removed all of your pictures from my site. Oh and finally can I just clarify your pictures are in several places on the web not just on flickr, and when I sourced them I was unaware of who the owner was, the first I new was when you posted on here, and as soon as you made me aware I removed them, and offered apologies, and mailed you privately, it was YOU who resorted to the attitude of a little spoilt child who was unwilling to share his sweets / toys. Go get a life Fella.

So there you go 6 pictures removed.
Made wonder though, do we seek permission from the subjects in the pictures?? just a thought.
